Clarification.

Very important to my dignity, there is something i would like to say: I AM literate, OK. several people (all avid followers of our blog) whom we love, have mentioned to me once or twice, in the most concerned and willing-to-help vioces, that i write with ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS GRAMMAR. so, i would really just like to clarify, I am fully literate and capable of building a sentence in the classic subject, verb, object structure. however, I try to write like i'm telling a story, and I that's the way i like it. so please understand i am capable of correct grammar, Actually, I've been known from time to time to win awards for my literary essays. And, furthermore I've even been known to fabricate imaginary awards, self-awarding them to my own essays that have gone unrecognized. this is however completely apart from to my point. i can wirte correctly. i just choose not to. so friends, enjoy my incorrect yet understandable writing style, do not be alarmed by uncapitalized sentences, or kinda engish words. just do your best to enjoy the thoughts and stories weve spewed onto the screen for ya.

thanks
sincerely- Jamie tha slightly less profesh one.

Early Ambitions

This is inspired by the fact that during the Christmas break, we both went though old pictures with our families. few of the pictures even reminded both of us of some childhood dreams and aspirations we once held. Yet some pictures however do not allude to any memorable future plans in particular. Luckily, there is an easy enough fix to take a look at the picture and only imagine what the younger US could possibly have been thinking.
Text Color

- i think this one is pretty obvious. i wanted to be a basketball star in the NBA.
- more importantly though im pretty sure i wanted to always be better than my younger brother mike at ball.
verdict: my time is seriously ticking for both.

i can remember this one vividly so theres not much of a guessing game. i always wanted to be a dinosaur when i grew up. tyrannosaurus obviously.
Verdict: i was a very misled child as to the concepts of reality.
(however, i had a friend that wanted to grow up to be a firetruck- so really, he was the one dreamin big, not me.)

- when i grow up i want to be a nudist.

verdict: I haven't brought myself to fully rule this one out yet.

Now it is Jeremy too and I too had some dreams as a child. Some were dreams of what I wanted to be and others were realizations of things I knew I absolutely didn't want to be.

First up: Truck driver. It is pretty clear from this pic that I am crazy stoked on my new Tonka Toy. Ever since this Christmas in 1994 I have had a serious need to drive heavy machinery.

Verdict: I do drive fairly big vehicles fairly often. Skid Steers at Enns Battery and Tire, Delivery trucks for Enns, and last but certainly not least, RV's built like tanks from the 1970's.

Next up: Clown. Again the emotions on my face depict my feelings for this profession: not quite as stoked. I took one look at myself as a clown from the county fair and realized it wasn't for me. I just thought of what it would be like to live the life of a carnival worker and it didn't appeal to my young and fragile mind. I hadn't acquired a taste for beer or cigarettes and my teeth were just starting to come in, I didn't want to lose them yet. Also, I knew I would miss my mom's home cooked meals and the comforts of my warm bed. I really thought of all the angles (I was a smart 3 year old).

Verdict: I would rather wear the cozy Care Bear costume.

At the end of the day it is great to take a trip down Memory Lane. Jamie and I both are not really chasing the dreams we had as kids (besides Jamies basketball skills and my driving skills). We also have learned a few things over the years, such as going to business school will make more money one day than being a t-rex would ever rake in. Also, sometimes the unexpected changes, like me realizing that being a part of the circus wouldn't actually be the worst. Seeing all the grunge towns of the world would be pretty fun. I'm sure one would meet some crazy characters as well. All in all, ambition is a good thing to have. Jamie and I learned young and still have plenty more where that came from.

Boarding de Snow (That's French for Snowboarding)

Yesterday I had the pleasure of going snowboarding for the first time of the season. My hill of choice was Glen Eden, notice how I say hill and also notice the choices are very limited here in Southern Ontario. I went with a couple great friends, Andrea Mohr and Kayla Benfey. We were also going to meet up with our childhood camp friend Mike Chiang. Now, snowboarding with girls is something that I am always a tad skeptical about. Don't go thinking that I don't believe that girls can be good snowboarders because that is just not the truth, however, in my experience, the vast majority of females are usually looking for someone who can teach them how to snowboard. I try to stay far away from this scenario of teaching new boarders because it quickly turns into a day of annoyance for both parties. This time I was very fortunate and the ability of both of these girls on the slopes surpassed my expectations. We had such a great day in fact that it calls for a post that will reveal a new side of me you have never seen yet on this blog. Jeremy the Poet. There are many facets of my personality that I don't like to show often, but I have been told by many that I am a poet even when I didn't know it. See, look what I did there. Not even on purpose. All natural. So anyway, here it goes. Please enjoy responsibly.

Snowboarding:

The slopes are laden with a beautiful white.
Thanks to Crest, Andreas teeth are also white.

I slide down the hill with the freeing breeze
and I like on my burgers: extra cheese.

The girls I went boarding with were surprisingly good
and I especially liked when they bought me food.

A day at Glen Eden is like an escape from the ordinary
and the carving and jumping just feels so extraordinary.

My poems flow like frozen winter streams
they bring a bright smile to your face like a radiant beam.

Thank you for reading this little blog post
I rhyme words with the same word, thanks for reading this post.

I just read that over and got chills. Wow. Here are a few pics of the day. Sadly, Mike Chiang was unavailable for photos. His skiing sponsors have a strict policy on photos, and I guess it's just the price you pay for going pro. If any of you guys enjoy the slopes as much as I, have a good season, get out as much as you can, and for Pete's sake wear a helmet!

Heirloom

There is a new Heirloom in my family. When I say my family I really mean my future family. I will use a Dwight Shrute quote to explain a little. "Did you hear? Somebody totally rocked the house and got me the best present I have ever gotten." My older sister Emily made me a fantastic painting for Christmas. It will be passed down the generations until my great great great great grandson Jeremy Enns the 7th is like, "Why am I keeping this painting of this old hippy when I can sell it for a million dollars and build 20 schools, 20 wells and 20 hospitals in places that need them?" I would have been dead for so long that I wouldn't even care either. Here is the pic that inspired my sister. Just realize that pictures don't do this work of art any sort of justice, so come by my place and stare at it in real.

january first

First of all, Happy New Year! We hope you all had great evenings. However, now it is time to get down to business because it's that time of year again. Time to re-align ambitions and eliminate our self-destructive habits. So that means no more nervous dread chewing, nose picking and or flicking, an increased effort to daily grooming. (you know who you are).
so, basically as we watched resolutions be resolved around us. we have something to say on the topic. and thought we'd pick a few of our own to bring in the 2011. And i think its pretty obvious that the best way to go about doing this is to not do it. so jer will do jamies, and vice versa.

Jamie (as picked by Jer):
-Win the BU 121 pitch competition like Jeremy did in first year
-Bring back his filthy flow and grow it all summer.
*bonus challenge: discover a new passion for something that is not sports (preferably something musical)

Jeremy (as picked by Jamie):
- keep a running record of all conversations, introductions and beneficial situations that were based around the topic of his dreads.
- carry out entire conversations in German the instant he learns of a fellow Deutsch speaker.
*bonus challenge: act like a pirate more often, and enjoy it. (i do, and i do.)

Really, these basically turned into challenges instead of resolutions. Fortunately, following the wise instructions of one of our great mentors, "If you can't keep a new years resolution you are a weakling, and if you make one you are a fool."

Long Story.

Recently, the two of us, along with two other great friends willm and charles, decided that we would like to own an RV. So we tracked down one that was perfect for us. Currently, our 1979 GMC Vanguard was living in guelph owned by Allan Teal (AND yes, he has a handlebar mustache). So today we drove down to pick her up and bring her home. Only, things didn't go quite as planned...

Event #1 the trip down: We left at around 2pm with wilms brother jesse to buy ourselves this late christmas present. Driving down hwy 6, with almost 100 twenty dollar bills in hand, occasionally each taking a chunk of the stack to fan ourselves as young ladies drove on by. retrospect: not the best idea to flash wads of cash to
strangers. Eventually we made it there, and as were turn down Allens side street, there she was and we laid eyes on her for the first time. ->

Event #2
the purchase: We fired her up, she ran grea
t, took her for a spin round the block, she felt great. So we got back to Allens place, met the wife, met the kid. Handed over the cash and he handed over the keys. He told us that we would definitely need to replace the tires before it was "west worthy", at that we looked at each other and we told him that would give a big hit to our budget having to replace all the tires (all the while licking our lips, considering jeremy enns of ENNS BATTERY & TIRE is chief of tires for our crew, and was going to set us up with brand new set) We got Allen to chop $500 of the price and the deal was made. We fueled up and headed home.

Event #3 the inaugural drive: Jer drove us up with plans to go to Toronto once he took part in the inaugural drive. So Jer came in our RV and Jesse followed in Jers car. we rode her about 30 mins getting waves from some and extended looks from many. Thanks to charles' suggestion we did our best to follow close behind a CAA towtruck that passed us on hwy 6, ...just in case. yet, we were running great so jer decided that it was time he needed to head to toronto, and we could just take her the rest of the way home. Picards peanuts parking lot seemed like a good a place as any to do the switch and part ways.

Event #4 our situation: we both pulled in, got out and shared an enthralled look at the 2 tons that we just acquired, and as jer was walking back to his car, he musta caught a look at the tires. The back tires are dualies (meaning two per side) and BOTH the tires on the left side were flat and fairly cracked. The spare was still the original from 79' (completely useless), so we called char's CAA, and they gave us the 45 min time period till they'd be before they could fix us up. and we'd be on the road again. Ironic that the crappy tires that were so appealing to us when we purchased it, ended up to be our undoing. The time was now 4:30 and so we decided to take our business outta the cold and into Picards for some warmth and some peanuts while we had to wait.

Event #5 Meg the Picards girl: it was here we met Megan the Picards Girl our first rescuer. they closed at five and meg the picards girl let us stay long after. We ate handful after handful of samples and candies. and we made sure to help her out, by mopping and sweeping while she was closing up. (that is afterall, the purpose of our trip) 5 30 came. we were still hanging out in picards, so we told charles to give CAA a ring once more, already 15 minutes late, they responded with another 15 minute delay. so we chatted more with megan, munched on more of the samplers and about 2 hours and 4 increasingly frustrated phone calls, the CAA tow-truck FINALLY pulls in and the guy is laughing. hes laughing because he saw us on the highway a few hours before. coincidently at the same time, when charles made that comment about sticking close to the CAA truck. as charles pulled the RV round to be looked at by the guy, the first tire went, and now our three left tires were out of commission. with only the right side of our unit operable, and a useless CAA guy on the end of his shift, the most help he offered us was to show us a lot that we could stay overnight.

Event #7 The situation: We were officially stranded. But you know, of all vehicles to be stranded in, a motorized home is probably the most ideal. we were however getting kind of bored so we scoured the RV for something to do. a pack of playing cards tucked away with the complimentary pots and pans? perfect! we did about an hour of cards. before the boredom turned to hunger and we had another problem on our hands.

Event #8 rescued again: This is where leah and paige come in. two good friends, one long time, one relatively new. these two girls really showed up big for us under our interesting predicament. we were cold, and hungry. and they showed up to our home (yes i can say that) with blankets, and a great variety of snacks and drinks. we now had some new company, and entertaining for the first time in our new place was great.

Event #9 the phone call: We had since called CAA back and were waiting on a truck with a different request. we were hoping to borrow a lift so we could get the tires of and bring the rims back to ENNS to be replaced, also that would leave our unit, tireless, which would take the honest fear of tow or theft out of our minds, (afterall, leaving her with out plates, and in the state she was in, it wouldnt be a far leap to concluded she had been abandoned.) however when CAA called back after and hour of waiting on the SECOND truck. charles had just about had it. he definately had a few words to share with the dude on the other end, but i think my favourite quote from the conversation was "do you even know who i am?" followed immediately by "well k actually don't worry about it."

Event #10 fire extinguisher: after giving our guest the tour, and retelling the story of the day. charles began to show our guests all the "bonus items" our purchase came with. theres literally dozens of compartments inside and out. and each was filled with almost a dozen things. mostly cooking supplies, spare parts, and tools. he did however find a rather new looking fire extinguisher. As he's was playing with it he asks, anyone dare me to pull the pin out? to which no one replied. so obviously he then pulled the pin out. kinda anti-climactic really. nothing happened. so he put it back it. THEN, and dont ask me what the whack was going through his head- he fired it. inside the cabin. where we were all sitting. after we just said not to squeeze it. everything was covered in white dust.

it was however hilarious. and therefore, ok.

Event #11 home at last (again rescued again): jesse's had a buddy on his way home from a cottage so after about 5 hours of waiting since the incident. He arrived in his pick up and we were saved. it was now 11pm, 9 hours after we initially left for the short trip. but we again were on our way home. Leaving our new toy, overnight, unplated, un-fullylockable and all alone wasnt our favourite choice, but we were tired and needed to get home. I left a note on that dash that pleaded with any burglar or tow truck operator to leave her be. so with the solid reassurance of the note we were off. home by midnight, and considering the events of the day, I can only admit that the purchase of that RV may have been a little tiny bit... of a great idea.

needless to say, it was a very eventful day. our unit is now safe at home and loved, with a set of beautiful new tires. -just waiting to be driven again.

Happy Holidays!

As many of you know, today is a special day. Christmas! Now whatever your traditions may be, please just enjoy the holidays. It's a time for university students to relax. A time to enjoy family and friends. A time to loosen off the ol' belt for the large dinners. A time to give and to recieve. A time to go out and play in the snow. Jamie and I have really enjoyed being with our families and I will speak for both of us when saying that we are loving being home. I personally have enjoyed time with my own family and the children in the Christmas play at our church have left a permanent smile on my face. My family rarely is all together at the same time because two of us are at university, so it has been nice. As for you guys, thanks for reading! So, from the whole team here at Just 1 Life, we offer out utmost, deepest and sincere holiday wishes! Merry Chirstmas!

The Ol' Stomping Ground

So Jer and I got back from Laurier for the holidays and decided that we would go back to the place we once spent many hours and had many great times. As former co-presidents of Eden High School we should have know what to expect showing up on their last day of school before the break. The paparazzi type entrance we encountered as we made it through the crowds was great. After we brushed the confetti and rice from our shoulders and signed a couple of signatures for the new 9th graders we finally could do what we came to do. We really wanted to visit some of our favourite teachers and appreciate them for the time they let us have. With a box full of a dozen home made jars of jam in hand, we wandered the halls once again. We found Bicks, and Speck. We chatted with Shonewille and gave all the updates to Fern. We ran into Alicia who invited us to speak in chapel about our recent trips to different parts of the world, Jeremy to Israel/Palestine and Jamie to South Africa/Australia. As we continued we found Fern and regaled her with all we've learned at business school, she pleaded with us to guest lecture in three of her business classes for a day in April when we were done the year. We are excited to dump some of our knowledge into these young minds. Before we could escape we were called into the principals office where Hernder was persuaded to let us run a lunch time event like the good ol days. All in all, it was a very successful afternoon and we are stoked to go back in April and once again run the show that we know and love as Eden High School.

Dear Mom and Dad:

Dear Mom and Dad,

First of all, let me start off this letter by telling you that I love you both very very much. Also, I am sorry for giving you this news so close to Christmas. I will just come straight out and say it, like ripping a band-aid off.

I have fallen madly in love and am eloping.

Now I know there may be some crazy thoughts running through your head right now, and you may be super mad at me, but just remember. I'm a smart boy and have everything figured out!

First of all, let me tell you about her, because I'm sure you want to know. Her name is Heather and she is the most amazing person I have ever met! Not only is she the most perky and beautiful thing I have ever seen, but her passion for marine animals cannot be matched by any person place or thing. She is hilarious and every minute I spend with her is just plain ol' awesome.

Now you may be wondering how we are going to start our life off. Well like I said, I have everything covered. With a loan that I got from some scary men in an Italian restauraunt, I bought an awesome RV. It's perfect! It runs good and has room to sleep 6! Perfect for the big family were looking to start! We are going to drive way up north and live in a really nice trailer park we found online. The guy on the phone said that we could even stay for free if I clean up the bathrooms at the truck stop in town.

But of course I don't want to be a janitor for the rest of my married life. I have plans to start a business! With almost two years of business school under my belt, I really feel like I can start something awesome that can turn us into millionaires. Heather is pretty excited about the idea of us being rich too. I will start a restaurant using the kitchen in the RV. Basically a fry shack. This way, Heath and me can essentially eat for free! We will make the best greasy burgers and fries. I'm sure we will get used to the fried smell in our home, clothes and hair and I mean it's a small price to pay for happiness.

I might need you to send money from time to time considering we both don't really have any right now, but consider it our wedding present. Our cell phone has a little camera and we can email you some pictures of the ceremony. Right now were considering two places. The first is appropriately named "Wee Kirk o'the Heather Wedding Chapel" in Vegas (http://www.weekirk.com ) and the other is Two Hearts Wedding Chapel in Niagara falls.(http://www.twoheartsweddings.com/) If we go to that one, you can come. But were really considering the one in Vegas. It will kick off our life together in style! The nice owner, Fernando, said that he could cut us a deal because we are Canadian. We are thinking about doing the internet wedding which means that you can live stream the event from the comforts of your computer in Niagara or possibly the cheapest Elvis package which includes the following:

Love Me Tender Package $177 (up to – 8 guests)

Ceremony in Historic Las Vegas Wedding Chapel
Elvis Can Walk Bride down aisle
Elvis sings 2 songs
Witness
Music
Photos - receive on a CD - the digital images of 5 candid photos taken during your ceremony along with the photographer copyright release
Souvenier Wedding Scroll
Use of Bouquet

Limousine Service Available**

Man that sounds like the dream wedding I have had since I was a little boy! Heather is going to be so proud of my planning (web-browsing) skills! Take a look at the website and if you want to upgrade us to the "All Shook Up" package, we would not object.

So I think that pretty much covers everything! Heather and I are just so excited about the future and I mean this is all happening so fast and I'm sorry about that. But just remember, I love you guys and will come visit from time to time with our new home!

Love your one and only son,
Jeremy

I'm done and you're not.

I dont know why but all of a sudden, as im back home enjoying home cooked meals, reuniting with friends, and once again enjoy my own large bed. It came over me to take the time and appreciate the fantastic and wonderful situation being done exams, more specifically to offer a NICE BIG BURN to jer, whose stuck at school, scrooged out of a nice long break by the shisty admin at wlu, and his responsibilities as a Res life don. He's ahead of me in a lotta ways: 2nd year, already donning, rarely, but still occasionally introducing me as "my first year friend" so ya. it feels nice to win this one. speaking of exams, and other than the fact that jer wrote his first one, at the same time as my last, i must say they went very well. Id even say i enjoyed exam time. days full of studying, but nothing much else. leaving plenty of time for fooseball (if you do not already know the serious extent of that, you will soon) as well as time with friends. basically, what im trying to say is, Its really great to be home.

Exam Slam

Dearest readers. I am about to try to write 5 exams in 4 days. I start tomorrow at 9am and don't stop until about 9pm Monday night. Please wish me luck and pray that I don't fall ill in the meantime or have my cerebral cortex turn to mush. See you on the other side. I hope.

The Pad

As you may know, all first year students must grow up at some point in their university lives and leave residence. There is a time when every man must leave the comforts (and uncomforts, and there are many) of Little House and move out. Well my friends, Jamie and I have found a house to live in for next year. Now, I would hardly call our new place on 104 Noeker a regular student house. In the student housing world, I would call it a luxury mansion. We are super blessed to have found a house as awesome as this so let me explain our excitement. I will list things because lists are ideal for describing multiple rad things.
1. HUGE BACKYARD topped off with a nice porch and BBQ (absolutely key)
2. Not one but TWO living rooms (one with a gas fireplace obviously)
3. Not one but TWO full kitchens (I could say something here about people making us food, but I won't)
4. Room for a basement music studio (this will be one of the many non-legitimate businesses we will run out of our new place)
5. There are three bathrooms. Nice, nuff said.
6. Closer to school than the residence that I don in right now! 7 min walk! Wonderful!
7. Six cool dudes are living there, Tyrone, Tim, Brad, Drew Jamie and myself. (ruckus)
8. See that tree behind the house? Perfect for climbing.
9. 80 yr old, (friendly) neighbours with a pool for the summertime!
10. JACUZZI.
bonus:babe landlord.

Be welcome anytime to our house. man that feels great to say.

For your viewing pleasure... we're B1, nice to meet you.

oh yeah and Jer, i finally found a chance to use that hat you gave me.

My Short Lived Modeling Career Revived

So for you faithful readers of our blog, I assume you will remember a post I wrote a while back about how I was a child model. Well, ever since that post was put up, I had been getting all these phone calls from different modeling agencies to do some work. I had a lot on my plate with school, but when I got a call from Dylan Hamm, photographer extraordinaire, I knew it was going to be different. When I got to Sheridan college, I was ushered into his studio in style. There were photography students everywhere, making beautiful artwork for different projects. It was hard for me to believe that this laid back atmosphere was even school. I remember my lonely nights with my Statistics and Accounting text books and got a little, no, a lot jealous.... The photo shoot was nothing short of wonderful and this is what Mr. Hamm had to say about working with me:

"Jeremy Enns was by far the most enthusiastic and good looking model I have ever worked with, watch out for this kid."
"Jeremy Enns would give Derek Zoolander a run for his money on the runway."
"Does being a good model have to do with a certain genetic make up? Well if it does, Jeremy is a model who is made of photogenetics."Here are a few pics. Sorry that they are small, in the modeling world, you gotta pay to see.

Casino Night

Quite possibly the best tuesday of my life. It probably wont be any big surprise when i explain why. If you know anything about me, you would know that everything about me would love the idea casino night. The IRC held a casino night called Mo'sino Royale. which combined a charitable fundraiser night with the cause of Movember. motivated by my filth stash and my love for gambling games, i got chosen to be a Blackjack dealer for the event. The IRC went all out, hiring an official dealer instructor black jack tables, roulette, poker. they turned the place into a convincing casino.
Me, like a kid in a candy store i was loving life.
You woulda thought ive been doing it for years, engaging the players, flippin cards at light speed, and taking tips like a pro.
mildly concerned my inclination to gambling has re-surfaced, it was for charity and it was a great night.

However the most bittersweet part of all, tomorrow is December first and i have to bid adieu
to one month of dedication and hard work.

At least now i can talk to girls again... see you next year, friend.

Just Visiting

Since jer so kindly informed you guys i was a little bit sick. i would just like to clear up that i in fact do not suffer from chronic loneliness, i just had a little to much exposure to what they in the medical world refer to as gingerdreaditis, and it was just a little bit to much for my body to handle. i did have to go visit the hospital. nothing too serious, I just needed blood work to determine exactly what i had. Its weird tho eh, that they call it "visiting" the hospital. I don't know why but i think i have a problem with it. It's not like I knew anyone there. Nobody welcomed me at the door, and I could hardly say i enjoyed my stay. when i think of visiting somewhere, i would picture myself on vacation, or maybe a visit to my grandma's eating cookies and milk and sitting on a couch. Not just waiting in different rooms for a long amount of time. But thats exactly what it was. So it wasn't really a visit. more of a wait.

I did however have to occupy my time. blackberry dead, taking brick breaker totally out of the question. in my emaciated state, exploration was out of the question too. i was basically confined to my hospital seat or bed. so i had to settle for the next best, equally curious thing. People watching. and from my open concept hospital bed, i had sniper vision. who would suspect the half dead, guy laying down with the mask covering his face, was listing and watching every word they spoke.

...well i was.

...and it was fun.

I learned a lot about some perfect strangers that day. the most memorable is Vladimir. Vladimir Suibec (pause) S-U-I-B-E-C which is the exact way he introduced himself to every nurse, doctor or patient who spoke to him. this 60+ man, has been in Canada for 12 years since he moved from old country. he looked a little bit goofy in his pants and bare back with his hospital gown. He refused to stop wandering about the room, and he must have touched just about every instrument in the place. After complaining about his thirst, i watch Vladimir get up (slowly) and walk over to a sink to have a drink. as a senior he was clearly above drinking straight from the faucet, so as i watched him reach straight into the trash and pull out a cup i gained instant respect for that man.

that and...

Mr. SUIBEC was in for his heart problems... the doctor noticed his chart read he was a non-smoker, he ask Mr. Suibec how long he has been a non smoker for and Suibec replied three months. the doctor left.

A nurse walked in looking at her papers, then at mr. suibec, then back at her papers. she ask him how long since he had last smoked a cigarette, he paused, then replied: two months maybe... the nurse left.

later the doctor walked back in. He asked Mr. Suibec if he had had any cigarettes in the last 48 hours. (long hesitation) Mr. Suibec maybe one or two or three this morning with his coffee. but he swore it was his first in six months.

the case was solved. Mr. Suibec had a heart condition that could not withstand the nicotine. he was again advised not to smoke and he was sent on his way.

its thanks to people like this that it takes 3 hours to get one needle at a hospital. however, its also thanks to people like this that you can sit and watch perfect strangers and almost always surely be entertained.

Thanks strange people. you make airports, bus stops, malls and of course hospitals all the more bearable.

Sickly.

So I'm sure many of you may have been wondering why there hasn't been a post in a while and I will apologize for that. Lately I have just been sorta down in the dumps cause my buddy Jamie here has fallen ill.

I really don't know the whole story but he is/was pretty sick. After last Tuesdays winning lotto ticket, Jamie's luck ran out and he caught some crazy illness. I tried calling him over and over, but there seemed to be no way to get in touch with him and find out what was wrong. The one day I came to his window, I woke him up from his slumber and chatted briefly, probably accelerating his illness with the freezing wind that was now blowing into his room.

Now all that I have been hearing is crazy rumours of what is wrong with him. I have heard it all: SARS, Mad Cow, Chronic Loneliness, Bird Flu, Swine Flu, Swird Flu, Pneumonia... I just don't know what to believe anymore and just wish he was ok.

Anyway, this has been a sad time for me especially because ALL of the boys were home from university this past weekend. Saturday night, we all gathered up at Willms and just had a blast. Pizza, NHL 11, GIANT bonfire, sneaking around old historic sites in Old Town Niagara on the Lake aka... the works. It was a great night but we sure did miss Jamie. So I would just like to take this time to ask everyone who reads this post to send up a quick prayer so that he finds his strength again. GET BETTER BROTHA

Here's a few pics of our antics. The moon was bright and the air was crisp.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

Today is Tuesday and what do all university students hope to remember to do on Tuesdays? Hit up Zehrs for the 10% student discount on groceries. So today as planned, Jer picked me up on campus and we made the journey to Zehrs. The key when grocery shopping is never to be influenced by the attractive impulse item. Yes, the pretty colours will inevetably attract your eyes to the dunkaroos and gushers, but be strong, remeber your orgins as a poor university student and avert your eyes. After all, you know all you can afford is that 3 KG pack of Sans Nom noodles for $1.49. So, when we finally had gathered up all of the items on our list, beer nuts and candy somehow snuck their way into the cart, we headed for the check out. To spice life up a little, we placed bets on what the bill would come to. Jamie decided on $29, and Jer picked $22 due to his savvy eye for the discount on soup. So the checkout began and the total rose to 28.50. Myself (Jamie) being victorious! I now had to debated with myself whether it was worth to show him my student card, or remain better than jer at this game... However, I chose the dollars over pride. I showed my student ID, and he took off 3 bucks making the victor now unclear. If you know us at all you can be asured of our cometive nature, (especially versus one another) and as I surveyed the reciept to find an excuse for my victory, I notice Jers chicken was charged twice. CAN THIS BE?!? We had been ripped off by exactly 3 dollars, making Jer the clear winner. He was pleased with this information and wanted to pocket the refund. We had to take our bill to the customer service desk, which happend to also be the lottery centre. In exchange for the chicken that was charged twice, we were refunded exactly 3 dollars. It was almost to meant to be as she slid the loonie and toonie right over the plex-glass concealing the $3 crossword tickets. Fate had already made the decision for us and as we recall, we didn't even speak a word to the lady she knew exactly what we wanted. Returing the coins to the till, she handed us that crossword ticket. We walked away two very happy men.

Almost certain the ticket I was holding was a winner when we walked in to Jers, we scratched that bad boy like a kinder-gardener with the chicken pox. Sure enough, word by word, NOR, FIJI, MILD...we scratched our way once again to success. Now, some people may tell you that 5 dollars isn't worth dancing like the old man from 6 Flags, however, under the circumstances, we were justified. Our proceeds will be re-invested without a doubt, and the dream lives on.

IRC Formal

This past weekend was on of the biggest events for first years offered by Residence Life. It was the IRC or (inter-residence council's) formal. Similar to a prom, it was hosted in a large hall, over almost a thousand people, first years and dons alike. This here beauty was snapped during the festivities.
Now, i would like to draw your attention back to my upper lip. This is in fact, the consequence of the timing of a mid-november social. What you are noticing may appear to be smudged dirt or even a cast shadow... but no, that there- is in fact a fully forming mustache. Today is the fifteenth of Movember and for that past 2 weeks or
so i have been desperately trying to grow a nice stash, and there is no possible way i am letting one dress-up formal impede my facial hair progress. Others have since admitted to conforming to social norms and shaving their Mo, but i rather decided to take a different approach. rather than shying away, or hiding my facial achievement i decided to rather embrace my minimal scruff. Fortunately, (and obviously, i was able to make it look pretty damn good.) Exhibit A is presented on your right. Now, i've lived with Raf before and am fully aware of what a beauty stash can do for one's appeal. So for now, although mine is still becoming, all i can do is wait. Movember really is a great thing. I know jer looks forward to it every year. I can finally understand why. Participating men all share a common bond during the pursuit of moustache month. Waitors, taxi drivers, pedestrians, classmates even my hero prof Jim McCutcheon are all looking foolish for the same great cause. to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer. it is a bit of a joke, but its cool that there is a great cause behind it. you would be surprised the actual significance that Movember has towards prostate cancer research. so it is fun and games. and i know behind the facade of a handsome moustache i look like a goof. but if you know some one who is raising money, chuck em a buck or two. its worth it.

But oh yeah, back to the IRC formal for a sec. To all you who thought you knew me. you actually don't- Cause truth be told this white boy likes to dance.

Mystery.

For those of you who are up to date with mainstream music, you would understand that this is Rihanna. No last name needed when you are a celebrity. Now many of you may ask, "But Jeremy, why would you put a picture of Rihanna on your blog? Your a rude boy." However, I would ask you to just take a closer look at the picture. Particularly, the upper left quadrant.

Yes. That is me. Jeremy Enns. In a picture with the artist who performed such hit singles as "S.O.S" and "Please Don't Stop The Music."

This picture was taken in Jerusalem. In May, many of you know that I went on a trip to Israel to explore some of the pertinent social issues that shroud the country. One day near the end of the trip when we were staying in Jerusalem, this snapshot was taken. While there are so many cool aspects of this picture, I would mainly like to point out the subtle smile on her face. As she walked by me, our eyes locked and I could tell that she was diggin the dreads. If it weren't for her posse of macho bodyguards, I'm sure we would have sparked conversation and talked for hours in the streets of Jerusalem. As we were enjoying some ice cream at a local parlor, it would have started raining and she would have told me that I can stand under her umbrella. We would have laughed, perhaps shared a dance in the streets to a cultural rendition of one of her famous songs played by street musicians. It would have been perfect.

Instead, my good buddy Josh Willms and I just had to sit at dinner with our group and wonder about the mysteries of what could have been while Rihanna probably sat 3 rooftops away wondering the same thing about me...

On the flip side, I'm glad this picture surfaced, because at the end of the day, it's a hilarious coincidence that of all the pictures that could have been chosen (the paparazzi were snapping hundreds) the one that made it to the fan website had me looking ridiculously on as Rihanna continued on her journey through the old city.

If your still a skeptic, Google image search Rihanna in Jerusalem and click on the first picture that comes up.

My Short Lived Modeling Career

Many of you may not know that I used to be a model. I mean, I used to do small advertising gigs here and there, nothing too major, but I kind of was a big deal. Here's a pic of me, back in my prime, when I was working with my buddy Waldo on an Easter ad for Nestle. My golden, shiny strawberry blond hair was insured for like $300. Not bad. Now if only my parents would give me access to my fortune...Lookin good little buddy. Lookin good.

a very unfortunate shower.

today things were running business as usual. back to the grind, class, study, eat, sleep. so around eleven this morning, after one early class i decided it was about time id get my day started. i grabbed my bodywash, hopped across the hall, and jumped in the shower. I normally would exclude this part of my life from the reading public, but several events, (completely out of my control) made it so that MY shower, did become a public thing. so i might as well share. so waters running, im sufficiently soaked to the point i would consider myself completely in the shower. and of course, its always then and only then does it don on me that i forgot my towel in my room.
i think to myself no worries, i live directly across the hall from the washroom, i may just have to do the naked jump across the hall, that i had to do the last time i forgot it. hopefully this time the cleaning lady's not in the hall watching.

...just kidding.

but i do continue with my shower, procrastinating the annoying fact that im going to have to dry off towel-less, or devise a plan to get back to my room, naked and unseen when all of a sudden, over then sound of the shower, i can hear someones alarm going off. man im thinking, thats a ridiculously loud alarm. so i continue to shower. then dave my roommate opens the door, and yells man it would suck for who ever's in the shower right now... im now putting two and two together, but respond skeptically. Why?! dave yells FIRE ALARM, we gotta go! i look down, im in mid soap, great. i hurry to rinse the majority of soap, i get out, look down, oh ya- no towel. my don runs in, as im drying myself off with paper towel, and starts to yell lets go hurry up, but cant quite finish the sentence without cracking up. what a situation. my doors locked, im being hurried outside by my don, and i make it outside in pajama pants, no shirt, jacket.. still mostly soaking wet. if that wasnt enough its about 11 50, when everybodys out walking to their 12 o clock class. and its november. at least my day is now started

Christmas Or Halloween?

Sorry that It has been so long since our last post, things have been crazy around these parts.

I had an excellent weekend. I spent it at Camp Mini-Yo-We for a free staff retreat weekend. I made some sweet new friends and had a good time. I took part in a murder mystery game and my character was a Pro Wrester who dropped out of Harvard Law to become the champion. My name: Jacques Strape. The best part or the weekend would have had to have been Sunday morning, when a decent blanket of snow covered the ground, aka, just enough for a sweet snowball fight before breakfast. A little Christmas spirit on Halloween. Sweet.

Me, awake for mere seconds and slightly confused as to what time of year it is.
